router question

    hi guys, i have standard ntl 2 mb broadband line at home, me ma has bought a new laptop so im gonna need to purchase a wireless router so she can use it. my ntl modem is in my bedroom upstairs and the laptop is gonna be used downstairs in the livingroom, could you guys reccomend a decent router to buy, and will i have any problems regarding the router and modem being upstairs and the laptop being used downstairs??,

    What you are looking for is a WAN router (i.e. has a ethernet port for it's WAN socket) as opposed to DSL wireless modem/router. Netgear, Dlink and Linksys all make suitable routers.

    I'd personally recommend the Linksys WRT54G. Have one myself and works a treat. It's upstairs and I have no problem using laptop downstairs with a strong signal.
