    Hi All,

I'm hoping soeom of you may recommend some programs for me,running Debian.

First off I'm looking for a graphical wireless sniffer, so I can see the content of IP packets on our network,or rather if there are any packets headed for the Telly,

which leads me onto our second problem,we bought a Philips Cineos telly that has an ethernet port,so it's on our network now and accepting DHCP.but the Philips media manager cd will only install on our desktop pc(less than ideal)
so what I am looking for is a unix alternative to the Philips media manager software, that could stream out the laptop video.

Also could someone recommend a good site please for reading up on streaming. I would ideally like the tv to take all it's signals over IP but for the moment getting the laptop on would be great.damn, am I making any sense...only the send button will tell us.

    thanks
    Fionn

    Wireshark for sniffer win.

I don't know about the telly management software, but you might be able to get it to run under Wine.

thanks for the reply, I'll get wireshark.

I doubt my notebook can run wine, but I get your thinking.

I think I'll try to work out how the packets are sent to the telly,or some program that can do it.

anyone else know of a linux media player that may stream out video in the right format ??

    back to the batcave....

put the TV on a hub
or get a managed switch that will replicate the packets to another port so you can capture all the packets.

If it can run X windows, it can run Wine.
