Hair Disaster!!

Hi there I'm looking for some advice and hope that maybe someone can help me.... I have naturally medium brown hair and it was always extremely healthy looking hair. Last year I had highlights and eventually it became really blonde. I wanted to stop getting highlights as they are so bad for your hair so i asked my hairdresser to put in blonde colour instead. She said she would but she put in some highlights on top of the colour. The next week I went to Los Angeles and my hair broke on the top of my head really bad. When i went home I went back to my hairdresser and she put a dark brown into my hair so i wouldn't have any more highlights, but the colour turned out purple. It has faded alot now though and my roots are lighter and dark hair doesn't suit me but the only way to lighten it up is more highlights, (isn't it?). The short bits are now down to the tops of my hair. As hair is dead the ends aren't in great condition. I was wondering would hair extensions be suitable for me. I could get a good bit cut off the ends of my hair but i love long hair so thats why i am thinking about extensions... I'm so lost i miss my lovely hair and wish i never tampered with it...i don't know where is a good place to go for hair extensions and i dont want to further damage my hair...

OK this is probably not what you want to hear but i think you should get your hair cut short to let it repair its self if u let it keep growing the ends will split and spread up to the rest of your hair! lucky for u short is in right now and if you want long hair i suggest you get extensions sewn into short hair is less noticeable than glued and better for your hair as for the colour just let it grow out extensions come in all colours so your sure to find a match!( if your in Dublin Moore st is the place to go, bargin down to €75 cause they'll try to charge more they put them in for you takes half an hour) hope this helps :)good luck

    Totally agree!

I did some work experience in Toni and Guy before had a girl in with a similiar problem!
Don't ever go to the hairdresses you've been going to again  They sound incapable!
If you don't like your hair so dark, there's actually a lightner you can buy from Boots, but I'd suggest get it professionly done

if your hair really feels like its about to break i would say to rinse it with milk. its full of protein and repirs hair really quickly. as for the extensions i have clip in extensions and they're really handy. they just clip in and out and you can have short or long hair whenever you want. get 100% human hair extensions they're the best quality and you can style them as you would your on hair i.e. straightning and curling them. i got mine on ebay for €40.

What hairdresser were you going to? Granted highlightes damage your hair, but you wouldn't expect your hair to be breaking that badly after only one year of highlighting, have been getting my hair highlighted for years . .cough its natural I swear, and my hair is still in good condition.
If it went really blond, the hairdresser was obvioulsy using loads of bleach, and then she let it go purple, is s/he an idiot?
I would suggest going to a reputed salon first and find out what state your hair is really in, and let them be the judge of it's suitability for extensions. If britney spears can get them on her inch of hair, then I guess anyone can, but personally would go for the chop and in a year or so, have your own lovely healthy head of hair.

ok, so hopefully you are using good products. I have highlights over highlights (used to be a hairdresser myself) and my hair is in perfect condition as i use only great products. Get yourself Redken shampoo & conditioner & treatment - its in dark blue bottles - for distressed hair. It is full of protein & is excellent.
Steer clear of hairdressers who are clueless, However, i will say, if you had been using these cheap shampoos which have blong/ brown tones in them they may have caused a reaction to the colour she used.. Salon colour & home colour are completely incompatible.. certain brands will just begin to cook on your hair as soon as you go near it!
