I finally got to see this film on dvd. (dont think it got a cinema release here?)

Really enjoyed it. Very dark and grim. Despite what the ads and posters look like, its not a horror but a drama just like the stage version.

Top performances all round, even by harry connick Jr. Deffo worth a look. try to look beyond the surface of the film though otherwise you wont get it. It is bill friedkin afterall!

I think you mean Harry Connick Jr.

I watched the first hour on Thursday and really liked it, though it's stage history was evident in the setting. I think I might go watch the end of it now.
