hi, i want views from anyone who looks after handicaps in there society. What would be the best way to work out H/C if someone wins and 2nd-3rd place.

    More information is necessary.
How many play in the Society?
What is the prize structure? Have you category prizes?
    Is gross prize an issue?
Do ladies play in your Society?
What is the current handicap spread? Does everyone have a GUI handicap?
I know this should be a given but will all cards that break a standard scratch be returned to the home clubs?

Only then can you lay down proper foundations to a Handicap cutting structure.

    Matt

35-40 members. 25-30 every outing. only 10-15 with GUI card. handicap range 7-28. no female players. prize structure 1st 2nd 3rd place. nearest pin, long drive. i dont want a serious structure but sumthing that might even out all players. the guys from 20hc-28hc never get in the prizes. i was thinking a 3--2-1 rule. if you win its 3shots off 2nd 2shots off 3rd 1shot off. review after 3 outings and if you were in the top ten again you dont get your shot back. duno if this would make any sense. maybe better structure available.

    Regular enough set up so.

    Continue with 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize format.
GUI Members- If subject to a Home cut as a result of a Society returned card are left alone unless its a 1st place. If they are 1st Society cut of 1 shot. Two prize performances in four consecutive played outings. Society cut of 1 shot until GUI handicap catches up.
Non GUI Members- 1st 3 shot cut, 2nd 2 shot cut, 3rd 1 shot cut.
All Society cuts being reviewed after player plays 3 outings.
