    Hey,
I have recently put up an arial (not 'Rabbits Ears') in the Attic (I've always known it as an RTE ariel but not sure if it is UHF or VHF) I have tweeked the direction to get the best signals. RTE2 is really bad with a lot of 'Ghosting'. RTE1 and TV3 are ok. Some Ghosting, but watchable. What can I do to improve reception ?

A vague location would be good. And what type of aerial?

I don't know your location but where I am our local transmitter (Mt Leinster) has RTE 1/2 on VHF and TV3/TG4 on UHF, this necessitates the use of seperate aeriels for each band these signals can be combined at masthead or in attic so as to use one coaxial drop to TV. When I figure out how to attach photographs I'll post pic's of the two aerial types I'm using the RTE (VHF) is basically a rectangle with two vertical bars mounted approx 10 inches behind it. Incidentially if your living in a weak signal area mounting aerials in the attic will further weaken them.

    Good luck.

wrong aerial and wrong polarisation (rods should be horizontal not vertical) for your area

from the red colourcode - thats group A. it should be Green (group C/D) or a wideband UHF aerial for your area + another aerial (VHF Band III) for RTE1,2 - combine the two.

keep the aerials away from the partition too - hang it up with string etc

when you get the right aerial aim it at Kippure Mountain
