PS3 as recording device

I currently have a sky box connected to a DVDHDD recorder via scart, an then a HDMI to my TV.

    question,
Can I replace the HDD recorder with a PS3? In other words, can I connect my Sky box to it, and watch my TV via a HDMI to the PS3.
Also, Can I then record TV to the Hard Drive?

    And,
I know it is BlueRay, but am I right in thinking it can read standard DVD's?

    Can it record to DVD?

    Thanks.

BTW. I did look at the website, but could not find the answers to these questions.

as it is no. When play TV comes out then you'll be able to record from freeview at least. The blu-ray drive cannot record any discs but it can play both blu-ray and standard dvd.

Play TV should let you use the PS3 as a reasonable HD recorder. It can't burn anything to CD, DVD or BluRay though. Unless I've missed a major feature of the PS3...

You could still transfer recorded files to a memory stick and move them to a PC for burning I guess.

Play TV is Digital Terrestrial Television. It will not work with Sky.
