    I know they're not part of the emergency services, but this topic gets no feedback on the Work/Jobs forum..so I'll try here.

    I think a few of you interested in policing careers have probably looked at the customs officer option as an alternative career should your first choice not work out.

    I'm looking for feedback on a career in Customs and Excise, or even Revenue as a whole...they have criminal investigation departments also.

    I broadly know the process...join the general civil service, try to get into Revenue and then try to get int Customs.
    How long does that take? Is it difficult? What is the job like in general?

    Any opinions appreciated, thanks.
