    About €450 ++
    It will only work for BBC HD and the FTA standard channels. No subscription TV.

    Humax, Lyngbox and others... Google: DVB-s2 PVR

    I don't think a HD box from the states would work here.

    one kind will, the other won't, sort of.

    It would be unlikely to do PAL (25i, 50p etc).

    Generally don't ever buy anything video related in USA. Oddly though you can get EU stuff that is really multistandard. But rare in US.

    My TV shows PAL or NTSC natively. My Satellite boxes to PAL, NTSC and PAL60. You rarely get other thn NTSC/30i/60p in USA>

    If you just want to show off / get the benefit of occasionally of a really good TV why not stick to ordinary sky and get yourself an expensive BlueRay DVD player and build up a decent collection of movies? Only a small proportion of what Sky broadcasts will be truly HD anyway. Who really wants to see Emmerdale in HD?

    A Blu-ray player mightn't be a bad idea. A PS3 would be the best value Blu-ray player available, and can play games as an added bonus! :)
