    Hi,

i am looking to get a new set of clubs and want to visit a place that i could test some sets before i buy. i mainly want to try the callaway x-20 and the new callaway 2008 big birtha.
also i will most likely buy in mcguirks as they seem the cheapest so need somewhere that i can try the clubs, possible get them fitted to my requirements and buy some where else.(tell them 'i will be back tomorrow')

also please dont mention the driving range in celbridge kildare as all they have is used clubs with very very limited stock.

i live in the lucan area but would be willing to travel.

    thanks in advance

Here's an idea. Could you buy them, try them out and then return them if they're not up to your expectations?

Used clubs?? Methinks you should pay another visit and look properly! They allow you try out brand new clubs there. I'm sure if you ring em and ask if they've got the clubs you're looking for you'll find they have them...

Are you sure you're not confusing yourself with the clubs they give out to people from behind the counter to use on the range?? You want to go into the golf shop itself, inside the door on the left and there's a studio upstairs that will analyse you and custom-fit the clubs for you, if that's what you're after.

Go down the celbridge road and go to McGuirks (on the left about 3/4 mile down travelling from Lucan) . There you can try before you buy until your heart is content.

Try Green18 in the Beacon centre in Sandyford Industrial Centre. While I have not used it yet they appear to have two very good training rooms where I assume you could try the clubs. They definately do custom fitting

How much is a good, properly-done custom fitting going to set you back? With your current clubs, not buying new ones - and getting the full works in the machine thingy etc...

Its not McGuirks...they closed a while back

The Golf Studio or whatever they are called from the upstairs level are now using the area. They do have some new clubs but limited brands

I thought most of the bigger shops kept a few demo clubs from the big name sets. Generally speaking they might give you a six iron to take away and try for a few days. You'd probably have to leave a deposit or something but at least you could try it on a golf course and compare it to your current 6.

McGuirks in Blanchardstown does custom fitting/hitting net now, so you could definitely try before you buy there, think you have to book it in advance though. One of the lads there was claiming the custom fitting is top-notch but he would say that.

Golfworks in Lucan have a hitting net/selection of clubs, wouldn't necessarily recommend them, but they do meet your basic requirements.

Fairly sure the Golf Studio have a decent selection of new irons, talk to the guy in there. Haven't bought anything from him yet, but he seems knowledgable and people have good things to say about him and his custom fitting service. (and he stocks Wishon Golf stuff :))

Anyone got a contact number for The golf studio mentioned above in celbridge. I've never been, so i might head out and try some clubs. Planning on buying a set of irons for a while now.

that for all the help there folks.

    finally one last question?
how much of a discount should i be asking for on a new set of clubs. i will most likely be buying the brand new callaway big bertha 2008 irons in graphite shaft(list price €800ish). i will also be getting a BB driver (€200).
would i be better in asking for them to give me the 3 iron for free or at a discount as the €800 is for 4-sw (i think).

thanks again for the help already given.
