retrieving stuff from a taxi

So my girlfriend accidentally left a case in the back of a taxi (coming from town to Finglas).

She didn't get the taxi's number or even company and is trying to figure out the best way to try and track it down.

Before anyone says anything, yes of course there's a chance that it's gone for good but given that it's not of any value there's always a chance that even the worst of people wouldn't be bothered.

At the moment she's ringing around the various taxi companies asking if they had a cab doing a drop in the last hour or so for the relevant areas and plans to check the carriage office tomorrow.

Anyone know what else you can do in this situation?

    Thanks

Lost property is still the remit of the Carriage Office in Dublin Castle. Without the cab number, all I can suggest is that if she at least knows what make of car or the drivers name, it is a starting point albeit a poor one.

The one solace I can offer you is that it is easier to return lost property to it's rightful owner than to drop it into the Carriage Office; you may well find that the case may be returned to either her house or office (If she had an address left in it); otherwise give Finglas cop shop a bell.

Call down to the carriage office in Dublin Castle. There is no use in telephoning them in my experience. They do keep a good paper register (as they are required to do under law) which the officer will check for you.
