Info about these on CIE's websites is a bit sparse. I have a couple of questions.

If they're valid from Sunday - Saturday, are they already dated when you buy them? If so, how far in advance are they available? Also, are they available in Busaras?

There is rolling week tickets available from the day of purchase; monthly tickets are for a calendar month. I don't see why you wouldn't pick them up in Busaras.

Thanks, but that link seems to just be about short hop tickets. The Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann websites say that the medium hop tickets run from Sunday to Saturday.

    Yes, the tickets are pre-dated.

Usually they should be available about 3-4 weeks in advance. They can be bought at Dublin Bus Head Office, and should also be available at Busarus, Connolly Station and other principal Irish Rail stations within the relevant zones.

These tickets really do need a revamp, with monthly/annual versions.

I think it depends on where you get them.

From rail stations they use blank stock and print the dates as they are issued so technically you should be able to buy them far in advance from any IE station as long as the staff member knows how to issue them.

Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann used to use pre-dated tickets and I assume as they do not have the correct issuing machines they still do.

Agreed, if monthly and annual versions were available, particularly through the taxsaver scheme they would be much more popular. Multi-mode tickets like this should be made more competitive, the more flexible they are the more likely people will use public transport.
