    Hi there,

I have built a golf frame out my back garden and am looking for some netting. Building a practice net like what you find on a golf course. See attached picture, The frame I have built is 3 meters square so I will need 4 x 3 x 3 square metters of netting.

I can only seem to find places that sell suitable netting in the states. Can any help me find someone in Ireland\Dublin.

Also looking for a good mat and some of that artifical grass.

Can anyone point me in teh right direction.

    Thanks in adavnce.

    Bernard

    Hi there,

Thanks for your reply but that is very expensive €450 for a golf net...

Would there be anywhere cheaper and possible in Ireland?

Picture is Grange Castle I think!!

Would it be worth just searching for 'netting' rather than anything specific to golf? I imagine the fishing industry might be a place to start.

A nylon net is a nylon net kinda approach...?

That's what I was thinking myself - if you're involved in a gah club you might be lucky enough to get an old hurling net that isn't used anymore? They have small holes like golf nets... and I'd ask in your local Driving Range about buying a mat from them...

Fair play by the way - would love to have the space to do something similar.

I'd say a garden centre or one of these large home superstores (woodies, b&q etc) might be a good bet Bluemonke. I'd say you would get a big roll of netting fairly cheap. Might not be green or the stuff you would find in a typical driving range, but would do the job well and wouldn't look to bad either i'm sure.

As for the astro. Finglas Lesiure Centre just re-laid all their astro football pitches. Not sure what they did with the old stuff (which was still in good nick), but if you ring them and ask, they might give you some.

Lol, pic could be from anywhere! My guess is Newlands. Sorry I'm not sure where you can get some netting though, have you tried asking at the club where they got it?

    Hi there,

Just thought I would share with you the solution that I found. This is by far the cheapest too. :) I went to the local builders providers in Clondalkin and the very helpfull staf advised me to get some debrise netting that builders use for scaffolding. A bail of this which is 2meters high by 50 meters in lenght cost just 120 euro which is by far the cheapest I have found.

I have attached some photos for those interested.

    Brilliant - looks great!

Just wondering - is the net tight enough around the frame? It's just, it looks quite close to the wall and if the net was loose you're balls would be smashing off the wall (ooooh Matron, etc...)

Fair play though... How much would you say the whole frame ended up costing you, it's perfect?

Ok the whole frame is about a foot an a half away from the wall which is enough to prevent the balls from bouncing of it. My brother is a metal fabricator so he got me the metal for cost price :) which was about 180.
