I would be intrested in your opinion on the best way to sound proof and insulate a stud partition. Rockwool or even fiberglass has been suggested to me but my gut tells me there is a better way. If anyone has any experience in this matter I would appreciate their help.

I have had a little experience with this on site.

If you have the room to do it may i suggest building a double stud wall.

Basically what we have done in the past on a big house was to build a stud with 4*2 . Double slab it as suggested, insulated with rock wool.

And then build another wall 50mm away beside it. Single slab on the inside and double slabbed on the outside with yet more rock wool in the stud. Making sure the two walls where not bridged.

the reason it got single slabbed on the inside was to make it easier to stand into place.

this created a dead air space in between.

It seemed to work quite well.
