    Heyas

Ive been writing songs for a few years and have been in a few bands, I havent been in a band for a while now but I still write songs.

So, I was just wonderin if anyone knew how I would go about gettin one of my songs recorded by an already singed artist?

How do I ''sell'' my songs to someone who's signed?

Do I just send in demo tapes of my stuff to record companies, then, if they like them, tell em that 'm not in a band and I would like to ''sell'' my song?

Any help would be great cos I really dont know where to start!

    HI

To answer that question could take a book but here are a few pointers.

Make sure the song is demoed properly in a recording studio at the very least on a good home recording studio with someone who knows what they are DOING. Just like books there is a music slush pile and poorly recorded songs quickly end up there.

What type of song is it; Pop Rock Funky Country Ballad etc.
From that consider who sings similar songs.
Check their Label and see who publishes their music send it to the manager or A&R dept at the publisher(get a name if you can)
Dont send a female song to a male artist or visa versa.

Join the International Songwriters Association, Irish section based in Limerick or some similar group who will give you all the help you need.

If your song was really up to scratch you could upload it onto a site that will let you sell your song direct on the internet, there are lots of them out there.
Use your search engine to check out How to write and sell songs.

You are going on a long hard road but it could be very rewarding.
Dont forget up and coming bands like the ones mentioned in this forum
you never know the next GNR could be just starting out, listen to their My Space sites and see if they might want your work.

I have a ton of songs with a few gems that I am looking to record with a view to having them performed by other artists.
Can anyone suggest a good studio in the Wicklow area...not too expensive.
