Could I please ask for a little help finding parts for my D-Boy M4, the gearbox is toast.
Will any other gearbox's work from other manufacturers?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dboys type 2 gearboxes are compatible with most after market parts.

You can get a full type 2, or just get the part.

Whats wrong with it can you tell?

I really can't tell, it started missing here and there and now it won't shoot at all. The plastic (plunger I will call it) with teeth on it has a few bad spots in the teeth. I assume this could be the problem.

Are you saying I can order a CA or TM M4 version 3 gearbox and upgrade to it?

do you mean the piston? can you get any pics of the parts?
dont buy anythng until you know what you need, it might just be a matter of rebuilding it properly.,

You could put any make Version 2 M4 gearbox into it but generally tou're best just replacin the damaged part

yeah post some pics of the guts of the gearbox. you can get pistons and piston heads from e-hobby - i know i bought some myself recently, which were tm parts they work fine, i think ive seen dboys gearboxes on rsov too if its defintily busted.

do post the pics maybe its something else.

Version 3 is a different type, you want V2 for the m4.

Get a replacement piston, you can then replace the damaged one and keep the rest.

If you really wanted you could buy a complete TM or CA box, but replacing the part sounds like the easiest option.

The gears are all ok I take it?

Yes, the gears are all ok, it's just the plastic piston that pushes down the cylinder. mechbox_illustration.png

The pist is all plastic in mine, what do you recommend me installing in it's place? I hope the picture works.

does it look like there might be anything else damamged? the piston is a simple fix and you can get metal ones too, but a decent quality plastic one should be fine.,

Not from what I can see, right now when I have a full charge and try to fire the gun I can hear the motor torque up and will not operate the gearbox. This is when I opened the gearbox and can only see the teeth on the piston are chewed up. They are not extremely bad, but maybe enough to cause a binding. I will take a picture tommorrow and post it.
Guys, I really appreciate the help.

If the gears look bad, replace whatever is worn, piston or teeth.

Not worth running them if they look wrecked.

Best to replace anything damaged rather than try and use them.
