Just a quick question. Im looking the best way to assign ip addresses to two laptops, a desktop and a xbox360 on my wireless network. I have ntl and use the standard router they provide(netgear wgr614). Btw i want to assign ip addresses so I can open ports on certain machines. Would it be better to assign ip addresses through the router or do it through windows and configure each computer manually?

In your case it would be best to use static IP's . Just stick the 360's on in your DMZ and you'll be laughing.

Yep, switch off DHCP on router and assign unique ip's to each machine. That way you can set up port forwards to each machine as required.

Cheers, thanks for the replies. Ill try that. I've been having trouble with the wireless network and addresses for a while now, but i was always using the router to assign them. I'll see how this works.
