I have a 13" macbook and am looking for a backpack that will not only carry my notebook and ensure that it remains (very) dry and safe while i cycle to college, but that will also carry at the very least a tshirt, towel, power supply and probably a few books and folders as well.

I've had a look at some of the stuff on the apple store, komplett and amazon, and everything seems a bit too small. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    thanks

Pretty much all bags for 13" laptops are small. The best thing to do is get a backpack designed for a 15" or a 17" laptop. This will give you loads of room (I've a 17" backpack and even with my 17" laptop I can fit a ton of stuff in it). You could also put more padding into the compartment for the laptop so that it will give the laptop extra protection.

i couldnt find a decent bag in laptop places so i went to the bag shop and bought a regular backpack thats fits everything in.

The only company that springs to mind is Crumpler. I bought a Crumpler backpack with 15" laptop slot in the states recently. I bought the one aptly named The Customary Barge. It was the 15" laptop model (comes in 13" and "17 aswell) and can hold the laptop, my dSLR and notebooks/folders and a tshirt or 2. I bought it for $125 but the website says it's $190. It's an excellent bag though, maybe too big for what you want but if you follow the link there's a lot of other bags aswell. As I bought mine in an actual shop I'm not sure how you'd select the 13" slot though.Crumpler Bag Section

Yup, Crumpler is the way to go. You can get a couple of styles for each laptop size, to either snuggly fit just your lappie, or lots more stuff (even photo+lappie ranges). I use a Crumpler, they are pricey but Id never switch. Comfortable, secure, not likely to tear or snag and they look good :)

i use a 13" crumpler sleeve for my macbook, which then throw (by throw i mean lightly place ;)) into a regular jansport bag.

does the job and everyone is none the wiser that i have a laptop with me and it's protected just as well as a regular crumpler bag.

Yeah I'm the same, this is my 2nd Crumpler backpack and my previous one lasted 4 years of trekking, college and travelling and is still immaculate. You'd certainly get your money's worth anyway.
