    Hey everyone.
Having a bit of trouble removing the gearbox from a Star M4A1 Carbine.
I've read that the gearbox is held in the lower reciever by these 3 pins:

But I can't for the life of me get them to budge. I'm not even sure if they're the same 3 pins on either side, although they do seem to match up.
I've tried forcing them with a screwdriver, nothing, i've tried resting an allen key on the pins and giving it a light bang with a hammer and still nothing.

Anyone have any experience with Star gearbox removals?

    Thanks guys. :)

you need to take out the one in the middle but you have to hammer it from the right hand ride of the gun so that it comre out the left, then you have to remove the mag release catch and the handgrip.,

Great, got it out and everything is a lot looser.
I don't see how the handgrip comes off though?

I've removed the plate at the bottom, but the handgrip itself won't budge...

theres 2 small screws in the plate, take them out and remove the plate, theres a motor in there with 2 wires on it, clip the wires off and pull the motor out, then look into the handle and the will be 2 screws in the bottom holding the handle onto the gearbox.,

Thanks Vtec, I knew most of that, the main problem was that the wires were soldered to the motor, so i thought the Stars might have a different way of removing the handgrip. I found a way around it anyways.

    Thanks :)

You have to unsolder the motor to remove the pistol grip.

Edit: you found a way round unsoldering the connections?? please tell i would be most interested for my own star m4a1 :)

I did exactly that, unsoldered them!
Not really a way around it, but there's no other way of doing it.
The gearbox is still incredibly difficult to get out, even when free to move about. Takes a lot of twisting and pulling. :)
