    Hey all,
I'm looking for a decent enough poker game. Someone I know wants to improve their game so I suggested playing a little bit online. Unfortunatly he doesn't have broadband and playing online with dial up can be a bit of a pain in the b0llix.
Would a decent poker game be the answer? He has an idea of the basics but to improve his game he needs to start looking at pot odds, reading flops, positional play etc. I remember having a game where TJ Coultier would pop up the odd time you made a move, advising you weather to play or pass. But I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. (It was probably 'TJ Coultier's No Limit Hold 'Em') It was a long time ago!
    Any ideas?
What about "WSOP 2008" or "STACKED with Daniel Negreanu"? These are available on a certain site.....

    Thanks in advance

Got him HoH - which I thought was a great book but he got bored reading it. He (and me in fact) seems to think that he needs to play more. I would prefer him to play micro stakes online but without broadband it's a joke. He only plays once a week in a friendly enough pub game atm.

If he gets bored reading I wouldnt give him much of chance learning pot odds etc etc. Playing more on play money tables wont make any difference too his game.

Would the dial up not be adequate for micro-stakes? I only got broadband in Jan 07, and before that was playing for a couple of years on dial up. While the odd disconnect can tilt you badly, surely the added benefit of actually playing against others would make up for this?
Maybe nowadays dial up can't keep up with the modern computing needs, but it was OK for me a year ago.

any/all of the old pc strip poker games - the most realistic 5 card draw i've ever played.

like in real life every other hand is quads/full house and the blocky 1993 style jugs make it all the better. ;)

In my opinion theres no point playing for play money or a computer game its just not the same and no way to learn as people will not be playing properly against you.

Just tell him to get broadband? Does he know its 2008? Is it Ken yeh?
