Never really use them tbh, have been more of an acoustic player tbh but now that I'm after buying a new electric I thought I might sort out my current one or buy a new one altogether.

The one I got at the moment is a Laney HCM30R Hardcore Max but its making a buzzing sound, I'm no expert on the subject but there shouldn't be any background noise when an amp is on should there? Can this be fixed? Is it expencive? Where can I get it done? Is this even a decent amp?

Worse comes to worse I'm gonna buy a new practice amp. I'll have 150 max to spend, any suggestions?

Ah ignorance really is bliss but I think I need to be enlightened on the subject :D

It's almost impossible to diagnose a cause for the buzz you're hearing, it could be nothing to do with your amp, it could e interference from other electronic gear close by or bad sockets, anything really. And i don't know if upgrading is going to improve things much considering your budget, 150max really doesn't give you many options. How about a fender champion 600 all tube amp, it's very basic, only one knob (who needs more than one;)) for the volume, i have one, which i plan on upgrading which is great, but i'd seriously advise changing out the stock valves if you do go ahead.

A low level buzz or hum is inherent in all amplifiers. Some are more quiet than others. Check for instrument cables crossing power cables or any cables that are coiled, especially on top on the amp. Not familiar with the amp you currently have, but if your budget for a new one is anything to go by, I'd say repair is probably not economically viable.

Even poor shielding in your guitar could be causing the buzzing noise in the amp. It would cost more than €150 to get the problem resolved given that someone will test and eliminate each possibility, shielding, earthing etc. until they find the source and then fix it. Your €150 budget might be better spent on a new amp with a warranty etc assuming your guitar is sound. Have you tried your guitar in a buddies amp before you go spending your cash?

Your Laney is retailing for as little as $95 if you check the net. With that in mind, if the above suggestions do not fix the buzz then I'd burn it after a few beers etc.

€150 will buy you an amp but it depends on what you are looking for. A good sounding gigable amp? i think not, a decent home practise amp?, then yes. Try looking for any second hand Microcube's(although you could afford a new one) or the Cube 15 or 30. Maybe the Vox Valvetronix 15 or 30. Both amps are good practise amps with built in effects and modelling. Good fun but none too serious.
