Hi all decided to go unregged for this as there is some embarrassing stuff though i am a fairly regular boardsie so im gonna preface what i say here by saying i know this is NOT a medical board so im asking if people have experienced what i am etc ok?

I have been on Duloxetine 60 mg for 3 months now. Before that i was on 20mg of Fluoxetine since last september. Now i have had most if not all of the side effects the lack of sleep, sexual drive, being unable to climax no matter how long spent trying (now in fairness i used to be able to hold back for as long as possible but this is different)

I decided last monday to stop taking them as i had given them time and had felt nothing but worse for taking them. Since then a few things have been happening to me which are weird as hell. For starters i am (now this is gonna sound weird as hell please dont take the píss) hearing a rattling, shaking sort of sound every couple of minutes. Truth be told it sounds like someone is holding maracas either side of my head and shaking them. At worst its every three minutes sometimes its every ten or twelve.

Also now during sex i dont even last a minute and its really uncomfortable apart from obvious reasons because for as long as i could remember girls couldnt make me cum (and it wasnt for lack of trying believe me) but now like less then a minute into it be it full sex or oral etc i cum and my gf is bloody delighted :)

I would assume the maracas part wouldnt have happened to many before or maybe im just losin the plot altogether but the sex stuff has anyone had this when comin off the anti depressants?

Thanks for readin i realise there is a load there

With any long-term medication like this, you shouldn't come off them immediately, but should slowly ease off them over time. Otherwise you could subject yourself to all sorts of (potentially nasty) withdrawl symptoms.

Talk to your doctor, and work up a plan for slowly easing yourself off them.

I'm not aware of the side effects or the withdrawal symptoms from your meds, but I am very sure that you need to get yourself to your doctor to talk about this ASAP. If you really want to come off the meds your doctor should give you a proper diagnosis for withdrawing them that should minimise the side effects and remove any problems that may occur.

Having had friends who have made this decision before and lived to regret I really do urge you to talk to your doctor.

Hi, I've been on lots of different anti-depressants over the years and a lot of them have quite dramatic withdrawal effect. I've had everything from shakes to total depersonalisation, where I just couldn't interact with anything to feeling totally nauseous. Because of these withdrawal effects it is very important to come off them in a slow and controlled way. Going 'cold turkey' can just make everything worse.
You may well be experiencing withdrawal effects and if so you should see your doctor, explain that you want to stop taking them and they can help you come off gradually, reducing the dose in stages. It may take a couple of weeks but is much better than just stopping.

60mg is too high a dose to reduce to nothing on your own

go to your doctor and manage your reduction
    or else change drugs.

Well done for deciding to go it without the drugs, but you do need to discuss a plan of attack with your GP.

    Good luck with it all.

    Thread closed.

have a read from this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSRI_discontinuation_syndrome

some people are depressed because they have low serotonin in there brain, serotonin can be got naturally from bananas and red meats, also introduce fresh veg and fruit into your diet its worked for me.There was a doctor on newstalk on about it,he works with depression and is anti ssri's.

Though i would go back to your doctor regardless and ask for a therapist as an alternative to the drugs. Its a known and studied fact that counselling is as effective and sorts out the roots of the problem rather that a pill and not approaching the problem itself.

    Good Luck OP
