Been looking around for this and it's €599 on the highstreet in Dublin and €390 on Amazon.co.uk – is there anywhere in the EU that will get near the Amazon price?

ebay.com, try digitalrev or kea-photo...while not in the EU they are likely to beat amazon's price and they mark the packages as "gift"

    Or http://www.digitalrev.com/en/product_details.php?item_id=2139&category_id=6
works out at 373e...not sure if that includes shipping though

Try the 'where to buy' section in the FAQs...

€500.00 including 1GB card and delivery has been delivered to my mum back home in the Czech Republic exactly today.
That should keep her busy for a while.
It was from Czech sister of Oehling.com

Amazon don't post electronic equipment to Ireland because of the WEEE requirement to accept recycled electronics (which they don't). I would (again!) heartily recommend Kerso on ebay. Prices are almost as low as you'd get from Hong Kong, but he's based in Scotland so no chance of having to pay Duty/VAT. Delivery is a flat GBP10 and always sent by registered post, normally takes 3 days.

If you are willing to go outside the 'safety' of ebay, you can email him and get a non-ebay price which is normally a few quid cheaper. I've bought a G9 off him before christmas and a lens and flash since and could not be happier!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sorry for not checking the FAQ's – I'd figured that the info on where to buy would be out of date.

I went with the G9 from digitalrev. Does anyone who owns one recommend any cases/attachments for it?

I got this. Hard to argue at that price

What's the spec on this bad-boy? For that price I'm expecting something damn good.

It's very good. 12mp, spot-metering, Canon ETTL, built-in 4X ND filter, pretty good quality at ISO 1600, and best of all, fits in a pocket.

I'll second Kerso, very good to deal with, and excellent prices. As cambo_gueno says, email him and you'll get a bit of a discount by avoiding E-Bay

Is that a safe thing to do? Dodge Ebay? I'm looking into buying a camera but would be nervous of doing that...

    I think its about 360 on 7dayshop

i got the G7 (there wasn't a G8 was there?) but i dont think it's great really especially in low light it just turns images to mush - i'd imagine the G9 wouldn't handle it much better until they get a bigger sensor into them they'll be pretty crap no matter what you get really.
    Wasn't good value anyway.

I guess it depends. In his case it's fine. He has a good EBay rating, and good reputation on forums. I've bought from him this way a couple of times no hassle. He'll typically knock the EBay listing fees off the price - I got £15 knocked off the price of a Canon 580 EX flash. I still ended up paying with Paypal as AIB wanted some ludicrous fee to do a sterling transfer.

In general though, caveat emptor, and I wouldn't expect to see that €800 1Ds III advertised with payment by Western Union anytime soon!
