Anyone able to make or capture me a "MPEG2 TS" with 720x576@25i MPEG4 AVC H.264 content average 2Mbps and peak 4.5Mbps and same ideally or different content but MPEG2 codec 4Mbps average to 9Mbps peak.

    Or link to same

Or TS capture off the MPEG4 Irish DTT tests (decrypted)

    Or any other suggestions.

I have some MPEG2 satellite TS, maybe, but I think maybe the last few updates of my sat cards make that it creates PS (program stream) on the fly from the received TS when recording.

I will go off and examine my PVAstrumento. I have a think it only do TS -> PS and not vice versa

Also I think none of my DVD/MPEG2 to MPEG4 tools do actual AVC H.264 but just plain Xvid /DivX for Media players etc. (Oh I do like my Archos 605)

I'm not interested in HD at the moment. Nor regular PS MPEG files.

    Watty,
I will pm you details of some test ts files i will prepare from DTT and sat services..all mpeg2 TS exactly as received.

You mentioned that in terms of conversion tools, you didn't think you had legit H.264 encoding, rather divx.

In Linux world, ffmpeg can do it properly. I've certainly used ffmpeg to build ipod video files that are H.264 based. ffmpeg is console based, (runs at the prompt), but is available for windows and I'd be certain someone has written some freeware that gui-wraps it.

Have a google for ffmpeg and PC-related tools, maybe even throw in ipod to that search in case you can obtain relevant matches. It may be just case of increasing the resolution from the smaller ipod-friendly resolutions (640/320) to something more indicative of a real DTT/S mpeg4 stream.

VLC alleges to make MPEG4 AVC H.264 TS... but seems to take TS literally, trying to ONLY do it in real time.

    Further experiments are needed.

I'm sure I've used mplayer & ffmpeg on Linux and Windows.

Cheers & Thanks to cormacl who supplied me a test file. That indeed works. Now if what I do doesn't work, I know it's my content. Took me a while though.

Analogue if the settings are wrong you get SOMETHING. With Digital you get nothing.

It seems to be a site full of adverts. No download. It also appears to be a GUI to ffmpeg

no adverts(or maybe my browser block them), but it does go on a bit about what it can convert. uses ffmpeg and mencoder plus some other libraries

direct download here if you can't follow the links on their page
