So i'm looking to take up some Martial Arts, both for self-defense and for general fitness/flexability, and i was wondering what would be a good way to start. I know theres no specific style to start on, but i was looking to see what some of you guys started on.

I've heard Krav Maga is great for self defense. And Taekwon-Do is good for flexibility? I was also thinking of trying some Tai chi, as i hear its good for training. Any info would be useful.

For overall martial arts training do MMA, for fitness and great hands and footwork do boxing, for flexibility, dont do boxing but most other arts are good TKD especially! grappling has judo or BJJ-its all about preferences! good luck..keep us updated

To start off i would rec either some form of karate or judo... depending weather u prefer grappling or striking. Both of these would provide a good base on the basics before you move onto more of the exotic martial arts.. this is of coarse my opinion im sure others may disagree

I always say that you should try a few martial arts and stick with the one you like. Everyone likes different aspects of martial arts, so pick one that suits you.

I did a few classes of Karate in college, and i liked it, but i wasnt the biggest fan of all the bowing and stuff. But maybe i will try it again.
