Is this spec worth it?

This Dell offer expires tomorrow. €80 off. Just looking for a basic setup, no bells or whistles. My old desktop has given up the ghost after 8 years and I have a good laptop that serves me well. I just need a new desktop for backup so don't want to spend too much on it. With my luck this system will have gone down by another €100 the day after I buy it! Doesn't have to be a Dell either if there's something else as good.

Only 1Gig of RAM too. You'll want at least 2 for Vista.

I think Royal meant that it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card with it's own memory. It has an integrated card that uses/shares the system ram which eats into the meagre 1 Gig it has.

it doesnt include a monitor, but you could get a dabs value 20" monitor for 137 euro.

3gb would be fine for vista. if you want to add another, then buy it from somewhere like www.dabs.ie or www.crucial.com.

would be much cheaper than dell.

dont forget, the price given on the dell site is EX-CLUDING delivery and VAT until you add it to the basket at the end.

if you take the system as it is, remove the 19" monitor, then to buy it inc vat and delivery is 409.
so add the monitor from dabs, for 135+15delivery
and it will cost a total of 559 including delivery from both companies.
