Lexmark X1180 and Vista - Compatibility Problems

    Hi all,

I have a Lexmark X1180 all-in-one printer which worked fine on my Windows XP machine before but as I have switched to Vista on my new laptop (well, 3 month old laptop) I have encountered some problems.

I attempted to use the XP driver CD when installing the printer but this didn't work and Vista couldn't seem to install drives for it so I downloaded the driver for Vista from Lexmark and installed the printer one that works through a port (that port being a usb virtual one).

Anyway, I can print fine from it but I cannot access certain things in the Lexmark Solution Centre software module (no access to troubleshoot section, or "how to" sections).

Worst of all though is that I cannot scan anything. I used to be able to scan and copy with XP as there was another module that allowed that but it seems now I cannot.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do or has anyone had these problems before?

I downloaded the driver for Vista from Lexmark and installed the printer one that works through a port

Im having trouble understanding this part , its an all in one device , you must install the whole suite of drivers for it to work , the download is here , I would assume that once all this is installed there should be no problem.

    http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=227:5:0:444:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=10676&searchLang=en&os_group=Windows%20Vista

Is that what youve already done? You say in the post you just installed the printer one ? Why would you do that ?
Also its quite specific about uninstalling all previous drivers before you install this package , did you do that ?

Yeah I have had to uninstall the driver and then install int again a few times. I used the drover that is located specifically for the X1180 from the Lexmark site and yet it seems to be missing the interface that allows me to use the scanner portion of the machine.

I'll try the download link you posted and see if that one is any help...but first I'll uninstall the one I have.

    Thanks for the tip!
