Basically im buidling a shuttle rig soon, And I want to use a Dual Slot GFX card without losing the PCI slot that it would cover...

So, Any idea where I could find one of these:

    pciflex32-fm.jpg

So I could still install an X-fi :)

I know most people will say get a single slot card, and maybe there will be a better single slot card out by the summer, but if there isnt....

Why do that? Why not buy the gfx card that you want and add this on it, with the fins on the back of the card?
(this model is for the 2900 series, but there are other models for all high-end cards)

Thanks for the offer Chosen but I don't think your soldering skillz would be up to scratch :P The HR-03 would be great, but the back of the card almost touches the sidepanel in the Shuttle, and the cooler faces in the way

Those risers are prett expensive :/

I might just sell my X-fi XtremeMusic and buy the USB xmod version, or hope that theres a kick ass Single Slot card out by the summer

    SHIPPING £14.49
    SUBTOTAL £23.99
    SALES TAX @ 17.5% £4.20
    TOTAL £28.19

    :/

Maybe I will just buy an Xmod...

    xmod.jpg

    It gets decent reviews...

Anyway I stumbled upon an awesome ghetto mod that you could do on the older shuttles

:D Just leave half the video card outside the case!!!

I think i will just go for the 8800gt :/

Its within 5% of the 8800gts 512 in almost everything and its 50 euro cheaper...

where you gonna mount the card conzy?

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    The x-fi?

Theres a PCI slot beside the PCI-Express slot

    oasis_mainboard.jpg

but I just realised the X-fi will be right up against the 8800gt and possibly even block a lot of its airflow...

Another advantage of the 8800gts was the dual slot cooler that exhausts heat, the 8800gt doesnt exhaust and could lead to heat problems in such a tiny case....

Damn x-fi! Why does it sound so good :P

I have 80mm, 92mm and 120mm Noctua fans on the way too so it will have good airflow..

    Any ideas?

Honestly conzy, you should consider getting a lian li v300 instead of a shuttle.

Only marginally bigger, but more choice in motherboards and you will fit 8x graphics card + xfi no problem.

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

Its considerably larger than a shuttle, I have my heart set on the shuttle so I will just do without the x-fi i think

Damn you kamakazi, I was looking into the SFF Lian Li cases and the V350 looks awesome :D
