Hi Guys just looking for some advise.

    About me -
I've got a 2h2 degree in Business Information Systems having graduated last year and have been working as a Business Analyst for the last 7 months. I'm willing to work any hours/days in any area (Exception being roles which involve programming as I'm a weak programmer.) I've got my passport and small bit of money in the bank.

    What I want -
I've grown tired of Ireland would like to try working in Canada/America for a few years. Problem being I don't know how to go about finding a proper job for them.

Where you guys come in -
I'm not sure how to go about finding a job in America/Canada. Most people i know just head there to go drinking for a summer but I'd like to find a serious job. Can any help/offer any advise? Do I need a type of visa to work in America? How much/long would that take to get if I get it at all.?

My advice to you would be to try and suffer Ireland for 1 year at least. Get that years experience and you will stand a much better chance of getting a job overseas and qualifing for a visa.

Take a job in any area that is relevant to your degree. It will not necessarily mean you have to continue in that sector.

I made a big mistake going overseas without any experience and struggled to get a decent job. Now i'm back here putting in 2 years of experience building so I can go to Canada on a long term visa.

You should apply online for a Canadian visa cause it's a slow process, but again, it's doubtful you will qualify straight out of college.

+1 on getting at least a years expereince

You would stand a better chance of getting a job. You can also try to get into a multinational company am move within companies but to different countries.
My plan is to move to Boston and the company i work in has offices there as well

It is most unlikely you will get a visa for a job in America. You need do have some seriously specialised experience that they can't source over there.

I don't think that you should bother staying and getting experience in Ireland because employers over there will be looking for Canadian work experience and won't consider Irish experience.

Go through USIT and get the 12 month visa for Canada. You'll be gauranteed to get it if you go through usit, will probably cost about €700 but well worth it. That will give you a good experience of the place and there are usually possibilities for staying on if your with a good employer at the end of the period.

Agree 100%.. went abroad with little work experience after my degree, now back doing a couple of years before I intend on taking off to Canada. But you can get a year visa through USIT if you want, simple process, but you might be a bit late applying for this year.

Contact local recruitment agencies in the country you want to go and see what they have to say.
