Garden centre expensive??

    Anyone find horkans garden centre is much more expensive since it moved to turlough??

    I always bought my plants and stuff there but I hardly ever go there now. I go to the turlough nursery for any shrubs, trees etc I need always get a good deal.

    Hi ya i find then expensive was there over the weekend picked up a few things come to near 100 euro.We went to Turlough nurserys for the first time and got a great deal on Blackcurrent and Rasberry bushes.

    they have to pay for the land and fancy big building somehow. it would be no worse than woodies which is a rip off like homebase.

    I totally agree with you OP. I loved the old Horkans. The prices seem to have risen dramatically. No doubt as Irishgeo has pointed out there are bigger overheads and possibly more expenses for all the shiny new fixtures and fittings ;).


    Edit: for my money...it's too far out of town now. Not worth the drive. Also there seems to be alot more choice now.

    I've found Woodies cheaper on average than Homebase.

    I agree. My bro a chippy can't get over the prices of different sheets of mdf chipboard, coated chipboard in both woodies and homebase. He reckons they're crazy, much cheaper in the regular hardware stores.

    I can't believe the prices horkans charge for very basic plants, €100 is nothing in there.....

    I think they are very expensive. Flowers appear to be the same price, but pots and flower food, and things like that have extremely exaggerated prices

    Horkans were always expensive, the new shop just an excuse to up the price for them.
