    Noise Not Music

Noise Not Music is a new DIY label based in Limerick, Ireland. It was started to release albums by artists in Ireland who operate in the extremities of sound and music. Genres being released by the label include noise, drone, new age tones, hardcore, screamo and more yet. The preferred medium of release is on cassette, though I may have excursions into vinyl at some point. The first releases of Toymonger and Bonecloud are going to be released on in February 2008.

You will be able to purchase the cassettes and hear/see full samples very soon at http://www.noisenotmusic.org. I can also be emailed about the label or purchasing any of the tapes at label@noisenotmusic.org.

Anyone interested in joining a mailing list to keep up with any new releases can head to http://www.noisenotmusic.org and sign up.

Once releases sell out they will be uploaded in MP3 and FLAC quality to the label website www.noisenotmusic.org for anyone to download and listen unless the release can be bought on a different medium (such as if my release is a cassette version of an artists album which can also be bought on CD/LP).

    Label Release schedule:
NNM01 - Bonecloud - Galloping Moths (Cassette, 50 copies) (Out: Now!!)
    NNM02 - TOYMONGER - Street Trash/The Wierding (Cassette, 50 copies) (Out: Now!!)
NNM03 - Drainland - The Ghost Train Sessions (Discography Cassette of material to date) (Out: TBA)
    NNM04 - Clouds - Cassette, 20 copies (Out: March 2008)

    NNM01: Bonecloud - Galloping Moths (C30, 50 copies)

Bonecloud are the duo of Tim Hurley and Paul Guinan. Galloping Moths is a collection of the offcuts from their self titled album which is slightly more rougher and chaotic than the s/t 2xCDr. There's spiraling loops, harsh guitar riffs and even a little bit of vocals all fed through what seems to be enough effects to last a normal band several years. This one won't last long as most Bonecloud releases sell out fairly quickly.

Mp3 sample of Side A is here: http://noisenotmusic.org/samples/Bonecloud-GallopingMoths(Excerpt).mp3

    NNM02: Toymonger - Street Trash/The Wierding (C30, 50 copies)

Toymonger are the Dublin based noise duo of Gavin Prior (United Bible Studies) and Andrew Fogarty (Tremor, Boys Of Summer, Bullets) who each play an improvised noise racket from Korg synths, contact miked sheet metal, mixers, pedals, cymbals played with a bow and tonnes of other items. Street Trash/The Wierding is made up on one side of the very first Toymonger recordings and on the other side of live recordings made on their 2007 English tour with Birds of Delay.

MP3 sample of Side A is here: http://noisenotmusic.org/samples/Toymonger-StreetTrash(Excerpt).mp3

The first two releases on Noise Not Music are out now. Both are C30 cassettes and are hand numbered. The tapes are both €5 inclusive of postage.

They can be bought by heading to the Noise Not Music webshop here: http://noisenotmusic.org/tape where you can pay via paypal. If you want to pay via cash in the post or by getting them off me them PM me or email label@noisenotmusic.org.

    Threads merged.

Gambra, it's against boards policy to advertise/sell stuff on the forums. I'm leaving it up for now but I'll have to consult with the admins.

Nice line up on the label though, I've a Bonecloud CD-R somewhere and I think it was good (I bought a load of Irish noise in one go and amn't sure). Looking forward to hearing Drainland too.

Is the cassette bias a cultural statement?

    Mike.

That's fair enough though I'm hardly offering something that would fit on adverts. I understand not wanting ads from every label under the sun but I'll only be posting this in the Experimental Music section.

Kinda. It's hopping on a trend but I love cassettes personally. I'm not going to be releasing everything on tape either.

I agree and as there has been no objections by the powers that be so the thread stays. Can I just ask that you make all your updates in this thread rather than having a new thread for each release? Just keeps things tidy.

Hey Gambra, I was charged 2.50 for postage, story? I'm not complaining about the 2.50, just that you say inclusive of postage. Maybe be a bit clearer on when the postage is included and when it's not.
Best of luck with it in anyway.

Keep any wheeling and dealing to email or whatever guys, the forum isn't a marketplace.

Wheeling and dealing? I'm trying to get him to clarify for everyones benefit whether it's postage included or not (as was stated in his original post). How's that wheeling and dealing?

If there's a problem, email Gambra and I'm sure he'll edit his posts if necessary. We don't usually allow adverts but this is an exceptional project which should be of interest to a lot of people. I'd prefer if the thread/forum wasn't used to discuss people's transactions or give ebay-style feedback etc. as this is supposed to be a music forum, I'm sure you can appreciate that.

    Fair enough.

Apologies to anyone who was charged the full €2.50. It should have only been €1.25 per order to cover the paypal fees but the webshop instead charged €1.25 per item. I'm new to this whole selling business and I'm only barely keeping up with sales as it is!

Really interesting project Gambra. I hope it goes well for you. The Toymonger artwork is badass.

Both tapes are now sold out from the label. Anyone looking for one can get them from any of these lovely people:
    Plugd Records (Cork)
    Knifethrower Industries (Dublin)
    Tomentosa Records (USA)

There'll also be a few copies for sale from each of the bands Bonecloud and Toymonger soon.

Well it's taken me a while to finally get up and get these sorted but they're ready and so finally released!

    Noise Not Music presents..

    NNM03: krsna - s/t c30
    krsna.jpg
krsna (aka Unicorn Meat) is the 1st official musical output of the Limerick musician Adam Bentley. The tape is a free, wandering jam constructed out of toy drums, keyboards, broken guitar feedback, a 10 watt amp and I think there's a few animals in there somewhere that lasts about the whole of the c30 tape... The six(!) fold cover was designed by himself as well.. 35 copies only..

    NNM04: Drainland - Year One c30

    drainlandcoversmall.jpg
Drainland are a 'dirgecore' band from Dublin, Ireland who wallow in the noisy dirty side of metal. This tape is a discography of Drainland from 2006-2007 up until their vocalist Liadain left.

Tracks 1-3 is their original demo, Tracks 4-5 are the original rough mix versions of the two tracks they recorded last August for the forthcoming split 7" with Battle of Wolf 359, with Liadain on vocals. This is the only release these versions will appear on. Track 6 is a terrifying 12 minute dark ambient piece constructed by Brian Conniffe, based around elements of the songs on the demo.

This release will be the last time you get to hear what they sounded like with Lidan singing as in addition to the aforementioned 7", two of the demo tracks have been reworked with new lyrics/vocals and will be on the split with CRADLE IS CASKET in their new form. This is pretty much a document of her time in the band. Limited to 50 copies and once they're gone, they're gone. No repress, no reissue, no nothing.
If you'd like to order either of these tapes paypal €5 (shipping included) to organisedchaoslimerick@gmail.com for each tape or send me a PM here. (The webshop is still adding money to orders so this is the easiest way for now)

I should have samples of each tomorrow on the Noise Not Music myspace: http://www.myspace.com/noisenotmusictapes
