    Hi,

I have a HRV system installed and running in my atttic. Even though the installer told me it wouldn't be noisy, it is. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to sound proof it. I was thinking of just wrapping it in fibre glass, will put something on floor of attic aswell below it, plywood maybe, any suggestions?

What sort of noise is it? fan, air movement, vibration, "voice pipe" transmission between rooms?
Check the mountings of the main fan unit, are they too tight?

agree - look at mountings - may be possible to remount on semi rigid rockwool ?

All HRV systems will have some degree of noise, it just depends on what type of noise and how acceptable it is.
Our system -Temovex 480 has large *boomslang* mufflers installed in both the supply side and the extract and these are specifically designed to stop the fan sound from travelling around the house via the ducts.
You will also get some degree of voice transfer via the ductwork.
Is your HRV unit sitting on the joists directly? Maybe it is possible to put an isolating material under the unit to stop vibrations being passed through?
What type of HRV is it?

The ducting is in for my system. The unit will be suspended from the rafters and i will probably get rubber mounts, these will isolate the unit from all solid members.Your noise is probably from a vibration source.
