Dell XPS m1330 Wireless -Stopped working

My Dell laptop has stopped picking up wireless networks for some reason. The wi-fi and bluetooth switch is on and both icons appear when switched on, however even the wi-fi catcher is not picking up anything. I've tried this on 2 seperate wireless networks which I had no problem with in the past. I've scanned for virus or spyware that could be blocking access but the system is clean as far as I can tell. Nothing is picked up, even local access

Perhaps its a case of downloading the drivers again?? I can't for the life of me understand what has happened. Nothing has changed on the system recently and it was working fine up until saturday. Opened up the laptop on sunday and nothing (both wireless networks work fine for other computers)....any advice? Cheers

Go to Network Connections and try a "repair" on the wireless connection.

Works for me when I have connectivity problems.

tried that a couple of times and it only comes up with troubleshooting options, none of which seem to work or are relevant.

I'd say it's Vista, it's a real piece of crap imo when it comes to wireless networking. When you boot up from a sleep/suspend, half the time it doesnt pick up networks and you need to do a full restart to get any wireless functionality.

If that's your problem, there's a hotfix for it, but I havent a clue where to find the link for it.

Ya, I was thinking it could well be Vista as I've almost exhausted every other possibility. Only last week it wouldn't recognise a driver for a Creative mp3 player because it was over 2 years old. Vista really is a load of sh1te. i'll look into that hotfix. Or if you manage to get the link, post it here, thanks

Also, when you put the cursor over the network symbol in the taskbar, it seems to take an age to pop up with information on the actual icon, very annoying

Fixed...surprise, surprise it was Vista. Had to install drivers, I don't know which one actually worked but I just downloaded all the ones available and relevant on the Dell website...working no problems again. God knows what happened the system for it to get corrupted. My integrated webcam wouldn't work either. I think a windows update that just became available may have sorted that? Can't be sure. Anyway...Next step...get rid of Vista, what a horrible, horrible OS

Hmm, not even on XP or any OS would it work without drivers, hardly vistas fault if they were removed or not there? I've not had a problem with my wireless corrupting on vista...

I'm having a terrible time with my wireless card on my brand new xps laptop. It never picks up networks unless I restart the computer, and often I have to restart once or twice for it to work. I even tried installing kubuntu but that doesn't work any better. I've tried it with different routers, updated drivers, uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled them... everything I can think of.

After searching I'm convinced it's the particular card that's problematic and I'm going to return this one to Dell to get one with the upgraded card that seems to throw fewer driver problems. I know vista and linux both have issues with wireless but I have many friends running kubuntu with wireless cards with no stability issues whatsoever.

I'm ringing Dell in the morning so I'm hoping they don't give me any grief over this, I'm really fed up. The laptop is great otherwise, but I can't cope with having to restart it constantly.
