    In Rugby Union, when are 3 occasions, when you can legally knock a ball forward?

    Two that I had considered, when writing the question, that have been mentiobne are:

    1. As part of a Drop Kick.

    2. In a charge Down.

    There is at least one more, that hasn't been mentioned.

    Feeding the Scrum by the S half, can drop it in there.

    Also by slamming the ball down hard when scoring a try causing it to knock forward.

    Feeding a scrum isn't thrown forwards, towards the opposition try line.
    And once the ball hits the ground, for a try. The game is no longer in progress.

    technically you could knock it forward to yourself as long as it doesnt touch someone else or the ground first so if you fumble it forward in mid air and catch it again?

    When a penalty has been awarded in your favour and you don't want to continue the advantage?

    The answer is, that the end zone, behind your own try line.

    If you knock it forward, and it gets picked up, as long as it doesn't go forward, past the try line, it's legal.

    irb laws:
    12.1 THE OUTCOME OF A KNOCK ON OR THROW
    FORWARD

    (d) Knock on or throw forward inside the in-goal. If a player
    of either team knocks-on or throws-forward inside the in-goal, a 5-
    metre scrum is awarded in line with the place of infringement not
    closer than 5 metres from the touchline.
