Great idea though a lot of work to set one up me thinks. I've never heard of one in existance already.

sure, but with 5 or 6 people, it could be a great project. also, if very popular, a potential money-spinner through ads etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,096 ✭✭✭An Citeog

    Never heard of google?

A couple of sites here, but not sure if they're any good: http://www.idreamgaa.com/ & http://www.fantasygaa.ie/.

There was also this one (http://www.gaelicsurvival.com/), but I'm not sure if it's running again this year. It'd definitely be worth a look anyway.

idream and survival are now defunct, whilst fantasy does not allow registration. im thinkin no more out there...?

Well considering that the championship is a bit away still its no wonder you cant register.

Wow, you are the funniest poster ever. Really.

I'm not as nice as kaimera so let me put this bluntly...

Any more smart arse comments or text speak from you will result in an immediate permanent ban.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 bineye

for some reason i dont really care. text speak is common these days and 95% of all internet users are familiar with it. if you want to ban me for that then go ahead. at the end of the day, i've done nothing wrong.
on the other hand....theres four fingers and a thumb

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

Whether or not people are familiar with it does not make it acceptable to use and it shalln't be tolerated.

Read the charter, it's been there for a while actually.

so what, i didnt read it

Text speak might be common in a lot of places.

    But not here.

It's in the charter not to use it.

You did it and it was pointed out to you. You then made a comment and got a warning which you pretty much ignored.

    Infracted.

Gaelic survival did the league and the championship last year. I'm disappointed they seem not to be doing it this year. In fairness alot of work goes into those websites each week so maybe they just don't have the time this year. If anyone knows of any other I'd love to know as I really enjoyed competing last year.

A small bit harsh guys. We're all on this forum to express our views, whether it be through text speak or very eloquent english. Incidentally why is there not a more common use of the Gaeilge here. It is the CLG forum after all which was founded with the intention of promoting the Gaeilge and the Cultúr Gaelach.

The Clare People newspaper ran a very good fantasy football and hurling game last year for the club championships in the county. You had to pick 7 backs, 7 forwards and a goalkeeper. Only a certain number of county players, i think 3 were allowed in any one team. Points given out according to scores, amounts conceded, ratings in the paper etc. An extremely good idea and kept interest in the club championships very high. I'm sure other counties will get in on the act soon.

If the charter says no text-speak and a poster ignores and admits to not caring about the charter, you can't expect a ban.

People seem to think this site is a place where they can just come on and say what they like, its not. It is moderated to a certain standard, and being allowed to post here is a privilege rather than a right.

As for the Gaeilge, I guess it isn't spoken here because its an English language forum and the vast, vast majority of posters have English as their first language.

On Topic: Would be nice to have a Fantasy Football/Hurling for the Championship but a prediction league would work a lot better.

So the championship is upon us, does anyone know if there has been something set-up?

Gaelicsurvival.com still isn't operational, they are a shower of cowboys anyway!

I think the pools created by Cruiserweight are sufficient and appropriate.
Maybe pools for the league would be a good idea too.

www.fantasygaa.ie is back up and running.

beware though its currently woefully out of date with players and positions

I was pretty annoyed with that Gaelic survival last year. They asked for 20 euro for registation and they would give out free togs and socks. So i thought why now. Then they got sponsorship so they emailed me stating i could claim my money back or just get the togs and socks. Again i said sure feck it ill take the togs and sock.

3 emails later, no togs, socks or money. Suspect scam to me.
