    Hi Guy's

I am looking for a buget projector that gives a good picture for DVD's etc. I'm not really looking for something special just a decent size and clear picture. Would anyone know if this projector ( Epson EMP-X5 ) is any good it is on Komplet with a free bulb at the moment and it got good reviews but it does say for presentations on the review sites. I currently have an old 3M 8745 which needs replacing. But a similar picture Quality would be ok for me.

    Thanks for the help,
    Rob

Sorry thought that was a link to the model I mentioned but cheaper. This looks good and the DVD built in is a nice feature. Have you heard any reviews of it.

Its good to use for DVD's.

    Aspect Ratio Widescreen (16:9), 4:3
    Brightness 1600 Video Optimised Lumens
    Contrast 2200:1
    Native resolution 4:3 800 x 600
    Video Compatibility PAL, SECAM (576i/p),
    NTSC (480i/p), HDTV (1080i, 720p

    Specs look ok

Built in DVD is handy. I noticed you said you only wanted it for casual use and not too expensive so id say you can't go wrong.

If your looking for a proper home cinema Id look athe the HD65 for 470 odd pounds A little more expensive, No built in DVD but a quaility unit. Its a new unit so not many Reviews. Its similar but newer/better than the HD70, look that up on Google for reviews.

The DV11 is a very good unit for its price.

I have a DV10, its older brother but installed a couple of DV11's. The DV10 gives slightly deeper blacks,I think this is because of its lower lumen output of 1000 against the DV11 1600. The DV11 extra lumens has the added benifit of allowing the PJ to be used in room that is not completly blacked out.

Both these PJ's are only 480p and hence screens size is a max of about 92" Diagional. Any larger and you can start to make out the individual pixels on the screens. For a larger screen size I'd def go for the HD65.

The picture quality is superb on both the DV10 & DV11 when using the built in DVD. The hard wiring of the DVD gives extra clarity to the picture. See attached image (DV10 on a 84" Screen).

If you are getting this PJ and you dont have a surround sound system, then get the optional Dolcen Kreiling 50W subwoofer with it. I guarentee you will be amazed at what this PJ's 2 X 5 Watt speakers and the woofer can product.

I dont bother connecting it to my surround sound system any more because the built in speakers and extra woofer give more that acceptable performance.

Thanks guys really appreciate it. Its great to get advice from people who know what their doing. I'll definitely look into these PJ.

One more thing can these be mounted up on the ceiling. I am planning on putting the PJ in a garage conversion so it would be about 13 foot from the PJ screen. Would I have any problems with angles etc.

The DV10 cannot be ceiling mounted as the built in DVD player has a pop up door on it.

The Newer DV11 & the HD65 can be ceiling mounted.

The exact projection distance can be calculated on the Optoma website with the "Distance Calculator".

    HTH..
