Light patches on LCD screen - should I be worried?

    Hi All,

Bought a Samsung 40" LCD tv about two weeks ago and have noticed that there are two or three big light patches on the screen. By light patches I mean that it looks like the sun is shining on areas of the screen. Its only noticible when the image shown is relatively dark (like when watching widescreen DVD or darkness in a movie etc) and knowing its there is driving me nuts. I bought it in DID and they have a 28 day exchange so I'm thinking of brining it back. Am I nuts to let it bother me or are the patches indicitive of a problem with the screen? The tv in question is the LE40M87BD (or 86, i'm not sure which is the irish version).

    Cheers

Sounds like clouding... which is pretty common on the M86/M87, mine has a touch of it too.

IIRC, 'Officially' clouding isn't an issue accorrding to Samsung.

That said, the way you described it does make it sound quite severe.

Anyway you can post a picture of it?

I'm in work at the moment and the camera is with my gf :)

Have googled clouding to see what came up, might stop by DID and see what they say. It doesnt annoy herself so I imagine its just me and mightn't be that severe

I've seen it mentioned on avforums, apparantly it's common on them TVs and in some cases it's mild and goes away after a month or so and in others it's worse and doesn't. Maybe give them a call and see if they can make a note of it or something, then wait and see if it stays or goes away.
