I am thinking of heading into the contract market looking to cut full time hours down to somewhat shorter hours so I can spend more time with the kiddies... (currently in the creche fulltime).

I am a qualified accountant and currently sitting tax exams. Any advice about approach welcome

Some employers allow you work from home 2/3 days a week. Can you suggest that before going on the contract road?

    Thanks for that.

My position in my current employment is awkward in that i'm the only senior in the firm (small company) and that position would really be a full-time one.

I do intend to ask them for shorter hours but would like to have options in case of a refusal. I do have the other option of taking some parental leave which I am legally entitled to but at the discretion of employers. Will see how that goes.

I have emailed as many recruitment agencies as I can think of with my situation but have heard some horror stories about people doing contract work getting tied into contracts with the recruitment agencies. Hopefully I could avoid that.
