Want to print large panoramic shot - where / how?

    Hey,

As a present for someone, I want to print off a panoramic shot I've compiled and stitched together using around 7 shots. I want to have it roughly a meter length, and foot high appox.
I intend to get this framed as well.
Now, I know a custom frame would be expensive, so might just see if I can find one around that kind of dimension, then work on the printing / cropping.
Question is... where could I get something like that size photo / poster printed?
Anyone ever done one before? Where and any price guidelines?

Thanks for any info / input

If you don't mind a rolled canvas print - I got one from Updone.com* last week and the quality is fab.

They let you input the width of the image, and it automatically fixes the height based on the dimensions of the image you have uploaded. So that might work well for your panorama.

I intended buying a frame (or cheap print) and framing it myself but I found that there's no such thing as a cheap frame. In the end I opted for a custom frame as for only a small extra cost the framing and finish will be perfect. The size is very similar to yours, OP.

I'm picking it up this weekend so I'll post a pic of the finished deal.

    * Do a search for the canvas print thread

I did one recently for a client where it was 60" wide by 15" high, and then he had someone do a custom frame. The custom frame cost around 300 euros though

+1 for updone, very happy with canvas results and service - I had mine mounted and framed by them.
