Computer refuses to turn off

    Alrite lads,

    So I have the same PC I have had for the last year. I swapped a few of the components out with a PC I made for my younger brothers, listed as follows:

    Tagan Easycon 580W PSU == [swapped for] ==> Corsair HX 520W
    ATI X1900XT 512MB == [swapped for] ==> NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320MB

    I also bought a new case, a Lian Li v1000 to replace my Antec P160.

    Anyway, my basic problem is that when I go to turn off my PC, through Windows XP, the computer goes through the "windows is shutting down....", turns off, then as soon as the fans have stopped spinning it starts back up again. My only choice is to hold the power button for a few seconds after the fans have stopped spinning, otherwise the process repeats indefinitely.

    At first I thought maybe it was a short, but I have checked all connections, mountings, etc. and can't pin down the source.

    Any ideas?

    a shot in the dark maybe, but have you tried re-flashing, or even updating the BIOS?

    Nope, I may give it a shot though.

    Could be a problem with the new PSU. Try putting the old one back in to see if the same thing happens with that.

    From the sounds of it your system is shutting down ok but there is a problem with the Power-management system not telling the PSU to power off.

    Try the following, also do a BIOS upgrade and check the Power setting in the bios.

    Click [Start] [Control Panel] [Performance and Maintenance] [Power Options]
    The Power Options Properties Property Sheet will open.
    Click the APM tab and check the box to [Enable Advanced Power Management Support]
