Sorry to hear about that, i hate when stuff like that happens. I think it's time to learn something new! get yourself a harmonica and blues the nights away!

Depending on how the injury was incurred, you should still be playing. If the injury happened in a RNR (rock n' roll) manner, then you deserve some RNR (rest n recreation). Otherwise, whip out some scales and stop slouching!

Failing that, learn to play the foot spoons

Ouch man! I hope you get better quickly. :)
Maybe you could play something else in the meantime, like keys or something like that? :)

If it's your picking side, you can still practice man.
Tie a cloth or rag over the fretboard at the first or second fret and go over some scales...all with hammer ons.

Even your picking exersise's should be done with hammer ons or legato anyway. The only way to make the notes ring out is to hammer down hard with the finger tips. Do that for a month and then go back to your picking.....things will be much easier.

If it's your fretting side...then just forget everything i just said.

    Rock on!!

When you're forced into a break like that it can be a great time to really spend time listening to music. That way when you go back you'll have some new ideas and better appreciation.

I agree! It happened to me before. I wasn't able to play for about a month due to an accident.

Try listen to stuff you wouldn't normally listen to, when you go back to playing you'll be full of new ideas and your playing will feel fresh again. :)

i've often wondered if something ever did happen to one of your hands so that you couldn't use it to play anymore. What instruments can you play with one hand?
