    Hi All
I just bought my brothers 2000 1.6 Renault Laguna. It's a big step up form my current Seciento 1.1.
He's looked after it like a baby since buying it (he's a mechanic)
Anyway, anything I should be keeping an eye on regarding the Laguna's health :) , anybody had one? Would appreciate some feedback

    Cheers
    HB

Three of my work colleagues had Lagunas and they would all fall into the "never again" category. They had nothing but trouble from them, mainly electrical and when they wanted to change to something else garages either refused to take them as a trade-in or offered practically nothing for them.

No doubt you'll hear others saying that their very reliable.

    Good luck with it. :)

As above, good luck with it. I think you will need it unfortunately. The electrics are absolutely apalling. A friend of mine has one and the passanger window goes up and down on its own, key card stops working, engine management light is always flashing, drive by wire accelerator replaced, 29 mpg, brake lights flashing instead of indicators..............its a bit like a clowns car at the circus. Other car sales garages will not take them as trade ins either.

Thought he might just have been unlucky as he bought second hand but after a few enquiries it seems that the Laguna are just plain dirt.:eek:

On the bright side, it appears that you can be lucky and get a good one although the chances seem to be remote. If its been well maintained you might be in luck!

If it is a 2000 reg Laguna then it is the Mk1 which has alot better reputation for reliability than the Laguna II from 2001 had.

The 2000 Laguna is one of renaults' most relabile recent cars. I know renault mechanics would rather drive them than the later models. I briefly worked in a renault garage and always used to hear about how good the last of the old model lagunas were. Good luck with it!

Stuff like this is good to hear. It is indeed one of the last of the Mk1 Lagunas. She's never had any probs from day one so I'm hoping that will continue.

Gonna be fun parking the damn thing, Seciento was my first car so parking the Laguna will be akin to hauling a Spanish galleon
Cheers for all the comments guys, will post if I get any problems (which I won't) :)

He's a mechanic, I hope you are too and some electrical knowledge will be a big help too ;). Think of it as an adventure and you won't be too dissapointed.
