I've been thinking that this is the answer to not leaving the gun in the car.
I'll explain your up on the grouse moor and there he is that lovely buck fawn or even the trophy head you’ve dreamt of having on your wall but not a chance with a shotgun it isn’t the tool for the job and you didn’t fancy bringing the rifle cause you isn’t going to carry it around with the shotgun and really if you left it in the car it would be on your mind for the day, so is this the answer?? Looks a good idea. Does anyone own one? Wondering what sort of FAC it would have maybe even two FAC's

Those jobbies are very popular on the continent. Quite often they come in a combination of either a double rifle o/u or s/s with a set of 20g shotgun barrels and the o/u's often have combo barrels. They're very popular with boar hunters. They're quite pricey though. CZ and Baikal would be doing the more affordable ones. Ballpark you'd be looking at at least 2500 euro for something decent.

I use a Blaser double rifle in Germany. Designed for wildboar and roe deer. Big caliber for Boar 8x68s and smaller for roe and fox 5.6x50R. Beautiful gun!! Photos attached. I have no use for it in ireland but it's perfect for the continent, not sure how you would even licence it here, i could see the local garda doin some head scratching.

As for the shotgun combo, would you be happy to go after a grouse with only one barrell, on the off chance you'll meet a buck. You would also need a detachable scope. And you could forget about shooting a brace.

Hunting styles are a bit different on the continent to ours. They use a combo shotgun and .22mag for hunting black grouse and sometimes go for a drilling(3 barrells) to include a 7mm rem mag or similar in case they meet a big Red or Chamois.

To be honest i don't think combo have much use in Ireland at the moment. Might be handy in a few years when the Muntjac get established though.

I magine you need both a shotgun FAC and a rifle FAC, like the way the quad needs up to 4 FACs

BTW I am pretty sure Sauer made the Savage combination gun.

Have one. Savage 22mag /20GA.It is ONE liscense for the rifle and shotgun barrel.I was worried about the situation about getting shells for the shotgun, but no problem with that sofar.Every gun dealer I have dealt with is happy enough to sell them once it is explained it is a combo weapon.

As for use,I carry it most days out hunting or foraging.[Hunting implies you are out for specific game].It is a very handy piece of equipment, capable of taking anything from deer to rabbits .
OK the Savage is only a single shot shotgun/rifle.And I would dearly love a traditional Drilling, but I dont have several thousand handy for a good one,and alot of the cheaper ones are 16GA,not too common around here.
But if I was only allowed one gun here in Ireland it would be a Drilling, with a sub cal insert to 22LR.

    Doublebarrel,
No,Sauer NEVER made anything for Savage.Folks get it mixed up that Colt imported for awhile Drillings [ Correct def;double barrel SXS shotgun with a rifle barrel underneath] made by Sauer into the US in the late 80s.

    ASFIK
The Sako Quad is under the same position as the above,or was under the new firearms legislation. One liscense, with multiple add ons of various calibres.
