Im in a bit of trouble here lads....

I was trying to set up a small LAN network between my work laptop and my own home laptop using a crossover cable,

when I was checking out that the two laptops were in the same workgroup, On the work laptop (Windows XP Pro) ,
I took a look at something called Network ID wizard
( in control panel > system > computer name )

this seemed to help in setting up networks....

the first 2 options it gave me were

    > "This computer is part of a business network, and I use it to connect to other computers at work."

    > "This computer is for home use and is not part of a business network."

I picked the second home use option,
then when I clicked next ..... that was it ... the settings were to be applied when I restarted

But when I did restart,,,,, my normal work username and password were no good
It seems I've taken the work laptop out of the work domain.... and now I'm stuck

Please lads, I need help..... I have some downloaded stuff on that laptop that I don't want the IT division seeing.... this company are very security bothered ,,,,, so I could be in serious sh!t !!!!!!!

Worst comes to the worst, take out the hard drive and stick it in the freezer or something!

Just kidding. there are loads of password unlockers for WinXP out there -- you should be able to get around it.

I'd use OphCrack if I were you

    - use your working machine to download ophcrack
    - download the CD ISO image + burn to CD
    - pop CD into the machine that's locked you out and boot from CD
    - you should get access to the machine and you'll be able to delete the offending material.
    - If you want to remove the material properly, use WinEraser -- open-source software.

thread locked - you can't ask here for cracking passwords, even if it was your own fault
