Interclub Question

Can't find any info on this on the GUI site.

I'm not sure what the story is with being eligible for interclub comps like Junior Cup etc. I do know that you have to have played at least 3 comps the previous year to be eligible to play this year.

In my case, getting back to golf, I wasn't a member last year and obviously could not play comps. Having paid up as a full member this year it just struck me that I may not be able to play for the club until next year. Which would suck.

I previously had a GUI h'cap for 7 years from 20 down to 3 then back up to 6 i my last year or so as I took it less seriously. I did play Junior Cup in my last year.

Has anyone any idea if I'd be clear to play? Essentially the rule seems to rule out any rookie member being eligible which seems unfair.

I'll of course check it out with the union but thought I'd check here first...

Im pretty sure you wont be eligable to play.

The rules are in place to try and stop people playing in interclub comps who are way better than the handicap they have.

    Take this situation for example:

A player could be off 9, then not play any comps for a year or so but still be playing a hell of a lot of golf and have become much better than his handicap of 9 but still be able to play metro which would be totally unfair. Although i must admit this situation is highly unlikely to happen!!

There need to be more measures taken to stop sandbaggers which is a much bigger problem Im sure youll agree!!

Think the requirement is actually four qualifying cards to be eligible for the cups & shields. And you lowest handicap of the previous season is what counts not what you finished the season on.

The three card rule is for handicaps.

That's correct, it is four cards.
