There are no official 'advanced' motorcycle tests but there are assessments for the various insurance companies as well as ROSPA certification.

Are you looking to up your skills?

you can apply directly to RoSPA in the UK to schedule you in for a test over here. I think it is something like £80.

There is also the Institute of Advanced Motoring here that do advanced driving courses and tests.

The RoSPA is recognised worldwide, the IAM is not.

My message to all car drivers would be the following:

I've upped my skills - up yours! :D

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

There is a guy on www.biker.ie called Rubadub who does these certifications. Here is an extract of some PM's between us:
As far as I know only Quin and Aon take assessments.

Basically how it works... it's a three hour (one to one)session - first 20 mins I have a look at your riding - then I spend the next two hours working on your weaknesses and getting you up to standard. Then I do an assessment on your riding. My job is to try to get you to standard before I test you.

Some riders do it as part of a full days training - the problem with the three hours is that it's impossible to cover everything - even on a full days one to one it's tough to get through it all.

The silver star rider course is well worth doing, it's mainly city style riding and it's based on trying to get you to look for, and to be aware of hazards. There's some slow riding drills in it - well worth paying attention to those, whatever you learn in the slow speed you can apply to the higher speed riding

If you're only new to biking - take it handy, especally if your riding with more advanced riders - choose your own pace as it's easy to get pulled along into higher speeds. Give me a shout if you need anything else
Assessments go on different levels.. Grade 4 is basic and grade 1 is advanced - Only Quin accept a grade 1, Aon only go to grade 2.

As a beginner you'd be looking at getting a grade 4 but with training you could get up to grade 2 - most instructors would be reluctant to award a grade 1, you'd really have to know your stuff for a G1.

Because Adelaide is Northern based they go according to Uk regs - they will only accept iam, rospa or police gradings. They're all pretty tough tests except the garda one which I believe is easy enough but a long wait to get it.

Back to the grading... Aon take a grade 2 as being the same as a full licence rate with a 15% discount on top (total 25%) Quin have their own formula too but it works out pretty much the same.
You still have to ride a bike that's restricted but you'll get it cheaper

The asssessment is a training period with an assessment at the end. For a day I charge €280 but for biker.ie it's €220 and €150 down to €120. Day is 6 hours half day is 3, it's one to one so it's pretty intense At the end you get an assessment and I try to push you to where you want to be

If you want to get a grade 2 would need to get out and practice and be pretty safe and fluid on the bike...

    Hope that helps
