Wireless Broadband in East Cork

Does anyone know if there are plans for a Wireless broadband provider to fill the current gap in coverage between Midleton and Fermoy ?

    See http://www.amocom.com/coverage_map.html

We need service in the Clonmult area, about 5km north-west of Dungourney so most likely too far for Eircom DSL from the Dungourney Exchange once its finally upgraded.

Satellite is not an option as I need to use a VPN connection for work.

Talk to Mal from East Cork Broadband. He knows, what he's doing and should be one of most solid solutions you can get down there.

3g is not broadband. Also your upstream is only 64kbit max with 3, 384 kbit max with the others. That figure is to be shared with all other users in the cell. Not really fun for VPN.

I think your two best options down that way are Nova Networks, and East Cork Broadband.

Depends entirely where you are but rural areas outside the eir plans (amber areas) will probably be 2020 and later.
Did you check out imagine LTE , they have now 4 sites live in Co. Cork

There's a whole thread on the National Broadband Plan here. It hasn't been awarded yet, so no work has started.

Oh - and you shouldn't resurrect the dead.
