Bazan was a fantastic fighter in the past , I haven't seen him recently but obviously he isn't the same fighter he once was .

However this does seen like another step in the right direction and surely the EBU will have to stand up and take notice of what McCloskey is doing .
Other fighters(Branco) have done a lot less to get named European mandatory .

Yet again good to see they're keeping Perez active .

Ye i don't even know if he's in top 15 in europe:eek: maybe you know BIG EARS,
anyway i heard tat before he won the IBF intercon belt he would get a ranking in the IBF ratings is this true that you know of it. I just overheard his trainer saying it about Haughin and he fought for the same belt (different weight). Hopefully he'll get a jump in ratings soon eh.
Anyway PETERS is doing some job RTE must be getting big ratings on the boxing :D lets hope the ball keeps rolling.

Winning the IBF International title does not put you in their top 15 .
Neither does winning the IBF Inter-Continental title .
Winning the USBA(IBF's version of the American title) title does however .

The EBU's rankings(up to January) don't have McCloskey ranked .
They have currently 19 fighters ranked at Light-Welterweight .
He is ranked #19 in their rankings for the EU title however .

So we can take it these rankings are up to when he fought Tontcho Tontchev and by ranked he should be ranked higher . I reckon he'll be onto the list of EBU ranked fighters once it's updated and after that he will probably move up quite quickly beating guys like Garnica and Bazan over a very short period of time .

Well the Inter-Continental is regarded as being better , defending that is more likely to get you into the IBF rankings and move you up them when you get there .

The IBF then introduced another belt (International) after a discussion on how to earn more sanctioning fees was brought up .
They named a belt after what the WBC call their main step up title(WBC International title which is basically the WBC equivalent to the IBF Inter-Continental) . That is why we have the two belts .

It's the same reason we had 3 WBA Cruiserweight champions for a brief period...........money .
