20 of us went to Edinburgh a few weeks ago for the weekend, it's pretty cheap to go out especially weeknights, what night are you gonna be there? Nearly every place we went did student discounts for food & drink. A word of warning, everyone told us to go to Espionage, don't, it's like a maze! Other clubs we went to were Stereo, which wasn't bad, free in and £1 a drink on Thursdays, and Faith. Faith had brilliant music (if you like dance!) & was free in (Saturday), drinks were £1.50 til half 11 then double after. Hope that's a bit of help anyway!

The Three Sisters is the best pub in Edinburgh. You'll have great craic in it and they love the Irish. Its fairly big too.

In some student bars you can get a JD and Coke for 75p. Now that's good value!

Lived in Edinburgh for a year. A load of studenty places are to be found in Cowgate, which is a kind of long street running parallel to, but at a lower level than, the Royal Mile. Three sisters, the odeon, stereo...a lot of the well-known ones are on that street or near it. The Royal Mile is one of the two main streets, you'll know it, it leads up to the castle.

Another area with a fair few pubs/clubs,a bit more upmarket i suppose and imo better for daytime drinking than Cowgate, are on George St and Rose St. These run parallel to Princes St.

You'll know which street is Princes St.

One thing to be aware of while on the piss in Edinburgh.....all the kebab/chip places close 10 mins before all the clubs! So dont stumble out thinkin you'll find a load of food to eat. And all the clubs shut at 3. Annoying license laws or something. Beautiful town though, and really easy to get around. You'll have a great laugh. If the weather's good and you're lookin for an easy hangover location in the afternoon, Princes St Gardens and the Meadows are two very nice parks to hang out in.

GO TO ESPIONAGE!!! And get jugs of a cocktail thing called Bambi.... it's delish.

There's a few strip clubs around an area called the 'pubic triangle' :D I don't think you'll find it on a map..... just ask someone.

    Can't remember much more I'm afraid :o

Id avoid George Street - like an extended version of Dawson Street In Dublin, full of expensive and pretentious wanky bars.

The Grassmarket and the Cowgate are probably yer best bets if theres a big crew of ye.

However, as everyone knows the best pubs in Edinburgh are down in Leith, in particular the Port O' Leith Bar :D

And remember if yer still raging after hours The Penny Black off Rose Street and The Scotsman on Cockburn Street open at 5am and 6am respectively.
