I see tons of batteries for a few euro on ebay for the 400D. i know they are not genuine canon batteries. are these batteries bad or is it ok to have one as a backup battery?

I have three as back-ups, and so far no problems at all. Although I must admit I haven't been using my camera of late as much as I'd like/should.

i use all cheap ebay batteries and they're fine, in fact they last longer than the canon batteries

what if one of those non OEM ones destroys your camera though? will canon repair it for you?

Personally I'd say get the battery grip with the extra shutter release as it adds a nice need bit of weight to the 400D and it also allows you to use AA batterys as well as the canon batterys :)

    will cost you around 130e
